What Type of Information Does WhereAreTheTrains.com Collect?

The WhereAreTheTrains.com website collects only personal information that you directly provide.  This information consists of:
*  Your email address.  This is used as your login into the site.
*  Your password into the site.  This is a password that you setup and should not be given to anyone else.
*  Your zip/postal code.  This is used as a starting point when defining a new train spotting location.  It seems likely that a new location you are going to create would be somewhat close to where you live, although this may not always be the case.
*  Your time zone.  This is used to correctly convert train sighting reporting times into your local time.

A Paid Membership does require the use of a Credit Card, as does any purchases at the WhereAreTheTrains.com store, but WhereAreTheTrains.com does not collect or store your credit card information.  This processing is handled by our partners:
*  PayPal handles collection of membership fees (Read the PayPal Privacy Policy)
*  CafePress handles the WhereAreTheTrains.com store (Read the CafePress Privacy Policy)


When/How is This Information Collected?

When you register for a WhereAreTheTrains.com membership (Free Trial or Paid), you supply us with:
*  Your email address
*  Your password
*  Your zip/postal code
*  Your timezone

You can also modify this information whenever you wish.  That is the only time WhereAreTheTrains.com collects this personal information from you.

You supply your credit card information to PayPal when you purchase/renew a Paid Membership.

You supply your credit card information to CafePress when/if you purchase something from the store.


Cookies

A cookie is a small file placed on the hard drive of your computer. Most websites use cookies. We use cookies to pass information between the web pages that comprise our site. If, when you login, you do NOT click the Remember Me checkbox, the cookie is removed from your computer as soon as you either log off of the site or close down your browser.  If you did click the Remember Me checkbox, the cookie will remain on your computer for up to 30 days.



Will WhereAreTheTrains.com Sell My Email Address to Other Companies?

No.  End of story.  We will not sell or give your email address to anyone else.


Does This Privacy Policy Apply When I Access Third-Party Websites?

This Privacy Policy does NOT apply to other websites you may arrive at by clicking on links within the WhereAreTheTrains.com site (such as PayPal or CafePress).  Please refer to those site's Privacy Policy statements.
